Introduction to Age Group Structure
Junior AFL moves from an Auskick clinic based program to an age based competition at Under 9 level.
The Age as at 1 Janurary 2011 is used to detemine age group eligibility. The Mosman Swans recommend kids remain in Auskick/Superkick programs until in school year three and reach a minimum age of 7.5.
Under 9 through to Under 11 are non-graded competitions, with the competition divisionalised on purely geographic boundaries to minimise travel. Under 9’s and under 10’s are non-competitive, with no results posted, ladders kept or finals held. Under 11’s is competitive with finals and at Under 12 we move to a graded structure, with teams divisionalised according to ladder position and ability, rather than geography.
