Mosman Swans

Dear Members and JV Partners,

I am writing to let you know that your hard-working Mosman Swans Committee don't just swan around during the off-season - we are already preparing for the 2019 season. In fact, we have a some critical roles to fill - in particular, Ground Management at Middle Head Oval. After seven years, the wonderful Yvonne Wallbank announced the 2018 would be her swansong and we are looking for a replacement. Note this is a well-paid position and would be perfect for a Parent or Grandparent looking for some weekend work, or perhaps a student looking for some part-time experience. Yvonne will be on hand to ensure an orderly handover during the early part of the season. Please contact our Director of Football Operations - Paul Toohey - at or on 0418 319 860 if you are interested, or if you know someone who might be suited to the role.

We have already been busy filling some other critical roles. I am delighted to announce that Dan Musson has stepped up to become Vice President of the Mosman Swans. Dan will bring fresh ideas and new leadership to the Club in 2019. Please join me in welcoming Dan into the new position.

If you are interested in coaching or assistant coaching a team next year, please let me know. We are starting the selection process in the coming weeks.

I trust that you enjoyed the 2018 season - our 20th as a Club. Let me relive some of the highlights for you - A "cygnet tour" of a "signature" Swans year, if you like.

We have never had a bigger bevy of Swans playing Aussie Rules in our 20 year history. In 2018, the Mosman Swans achieved record membership levels across our junior and youth teams.

We welcomed two new sponsors to the Mosman Swans - Alto Landrover/Jaguar and Cadence & Co. These high quality sponsors, who share our ideals, join Dixon Advisory, the Warringah Bowling Club and 2020 Dry Cleaning in supporting our Club. A very special thanks to Justin Dethridge, who has secured our financial future of our Club by teaming up with organisations that we are proud to promote.

We do not measure ourselves by premierships, but some on-field success usually follows when we do most other things right. This year, we had five teams make Grand Finals: Under 11 Division 1, Under 14 Division 1, Under 17 Division 3, Under 17 Division 1 and Under 18 Youth Girls. Our other teams made us proud with their conduct and sportsmanship. Thank you to all of the Coaches and Players for conducting themselves with such distinction.

There are many unsung heroes in our Club, but I would like to give a very big thank you to the Age Group Co-ordinators, who are the real workers behind the scenes supporting the coaches and managers. A big thanks to Alison Boston (Auskick), Dan Musson (Under 9), Dominic Adshead (Under 10), Peter Tonkin (Under 11), Roger Brandt (Under 12), along with our JV partner AGCs Helen Hall (Under 13), David Hendriks (Under 14), Anna-Lise Sewell (Under 15) and Chris Barnum (Under 17) along with our Girls Coordinators Andrew Larkey and Andrew Jenkins.

There was a great moment in 2018, where we were able to pause and reflect on 20 years of Mosman Swans' history. Our anniversary celebration brought together every President who has served the Club (Brett Davidson, Dan Milton-Hine, Gary Forster, Andrew Hurrell and Justin Dethridge), our football prodigies now playing at an AFL level (Erin McKinnon, Callum Mills and Dan Robinson), our past premiership players (too many to mention) and current members (way too many to mention). Thank you to all who attended.

The Mosman Swans enter 2019 in excellent shape, both in a financial and footballing sense. Note that Middle Head Oval is having a $500,000 surface upgrade over summer and will be in top condition for the start of next season. Gore Hill Oval will also reopen with a new all-weather surface for our Joint Venture teams.
